The spirit of the Spring Gathering is for everyone.

The Stillpoint Yoga London Spring Gathering is our annual signature event.

We are in unprecedented times. Our shala’s have closed and our communities are discovering new ways to connect. For the seventh SYL Spring Gathering we will be bringing together the 3 communities in London (Stillpoint), Paris (Mysore Yoga Paris) and Florida (Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide) for one online event, The virtual Spring Gathering 2020.

Starting with a guided primary series in the morning (08:00am in the UK, 09:00am in France and 06:30 in Florida) the communities will join together for the second session where Kia Naddermier, Greg Nardi and Scott Johnson will share inspiring teaching form the yoga tradition.

The Theme of the weekend is:

Kriya Yoga

Patanjali’s Yoga of action Tapas, Swadhyaya and Iswara Pranidhana are the three pillars of Ashtanga Yoga Practice.  These three skillful means guide our practice towards an inner state of equlibrium.

Pranayama is considered to be the primary Tapas, associated with the action of practice.

Mindfulness is a form of Swadhaya that allows us to be self reflective in action.

Chanting & Mantra Japa allows us to direct the fruits of our actions in a meaningful way.

In these times of social isolation, we can return to our potential state in preparation for when we rise again. Kriya Yoga can help us reflect on ways that we might skillfully return to action with compassion, generosity and awareness. This day long workshop will offer space for us to look at how these practices, both individually and collectively, can give perspective on the time we find ourselves in and hope for the future. Whenever that may be!

The whole weekend made me realise how lucky I am to have found such a wholesome and nurturing environment – quite hard in ‘yoga brand’ heavy London. The Gathering was neither just a workshop, nor some hippy fest gathering to talk about how our chakras were feeling. It was practical, positive, structured but relaxed, fun yet focussed, mind blowing yet totally and utterly inclusive and unpretentious. It was a down to earth bunch of people exploring their own yoga journey but on a group trip. Big thanks and huge love to Scott, John, Andy, Matthew, Nikki, Louise and all at SYL for a brilliant gathering – can’t wait for the next one!

I signed up to Stillpoint’s Spring Yoga Gathering not quite knowing what to expect. As John Scott reminded us on the first day of the workshop, this is not about exercise. If you want to do exercise you can go down to the gym. When we turn up on the mat we are doing much more than that, continuing and remixing an ancient tradition of awareness and embodiment. Where that takes us is up to us. We can only find out what yoga is by getting on a mat and practising and questioning and questioning and practising some more.

The Stillpoint Yoga London Spring Gathering was an opportunity to immerse myself in an entire weekend of yoga and to connect with the wonderful community that Scott Johnson has built up. It didn’t disappoint. It was a truly nourishing experience. It was wonderful to feel that group energy once again and to work with skilled teachers such as John, Scott and Andy who truly embody the practice of yoga.
